FEA-Opt Technology Helps ITRI Optimize Ejectors with CFD and the SmartDO Technology

Chu-Nan, Miaoli, (Taiwan), January 9, 2007

FEA-Opt Technology (www.FEA-Optimization.com), one of the world-leading CAE consultancy and design optimization specialist firms based in Taiwan, announces they have successfully helped the Material and Chemical Research Laboratories (MCL) of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan to use SmartDO and CFD for design optimization and automation of ejectors.

According the the representative of FEA-Opt Technology, this is based on a two-year-long research project, involving FEA-Opt Technology, ITRI and another university in Taiwan. The objective of this project was to develop an ejector design optimization and automation system for ITRI. The tasks include coupling SmartDO, CFD and CAD, and to calibrate the result with test data. FEA-Opt Technology was responsible for teami building, system planning and integration, and the numerical design optimization. "The most difficult technical issue in these kinds of problems, is how to resolve the numerical noise and local minimum caused by CFD. Nothing on the martket today can resolve this problem systematically and efficiently". said the representative of FEA-Opt Technology, "But this is just one of the objectives that SmartDO is created for."

In the end of 2006, the project was accounced successfully completed, and ITRI is beginning to use SmartDO as the standard system for design optimization and automation of ejectors. Currently, ITRI is already prodiving related services to customers with such system.
